• Call to Open/Keep Open Silver Line Phase 2

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is considering a number of actions to address revenue shortfalls that impact its FY2022 budget.  Actions being considered include reduction in service throughout the entire Metrorail network and the closure of 22 Metro stations, which includes the Reston Town Center Metro Station, slated to open in July 2021.  Additionally, the proposal would seek the closure of additional Silver Line Phase 2 stations - Innovation Center and Loudoun Gateway.  WMATA launched a public comment period that will run through Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 5:00 PM to allow community members to voice their opinions.

WMATA's proposed reduction of services will only exacerbate its current revenue shortfalls.  Closure of stations, particularly the RTC Station and other Silver Line Phase 2 destinations, are unthinkable.  Significant investments have been made in our community on the promise of timely and sustained rail service.  Anything less than what has been promised will severely impact our region's economic development and the delivery of valued community amenities, such as affordable housing and infrastructure improvements.

There are a number of ways in which you can share your support for keeping the Reston Town Center Station, and the rest of the Silver Line, opened and operating:
